I’ve yet to go on a trip where things haven’t worked out. I feel like it was about due time – but I will get into that later. I bought a new lens and was very excited to use it. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to take as many photos as I had hoped to.
The plan was 1 week in London, 4 days in Croatia, and then 4 more back in London. London was amazing, as usual. Seeing friends and family always leaves me with a full heart. I feel so lucky to know so many talented designers (who sadly I don’t see enough) and having people who understand what I experience on the daily feels really good.
I also went back to a couple of the places I had lived which were nice to see and sparked a flurry of good memories.
I also saw and experienced some new things. For example, I rode a bike for the first time in ages. I discovered my dangerous handlebar arm wobbling was all due to the low height of the seat. I was much more in control after adjusting it. What a lovely way to travel in the city (minus the scary busy intersections). We also stopped by my old university’s Kings Cross campus (Central Saint Martins/Uni of the Arts). During this visit I had a lot on my list of things to do, and of course abandoned the list in favour of spending more time with good friends and relaxing.
The things I didn’t get to do:
- St. Paul’s
- Temple of Hackney (vegan chicken shop)
- Rooftop patio bars
- Vegan restos (Farmacy, Fed by Water)
- Art galleries
- A gig
What we did:
- Meet up with Uni friends
- Coffee shops
- The Shard
- The Barbican Conservatory
- Sky Garden
- Portobello Road/market
- Kensington Palace Gardens/Hyde Park
- The British Museum
- Camden Market
- Vx (vegan headquarters)
- Vida Bakery
- Martin Parr/Sony world photo exhibition at Somerset House
- A drag show (my first, and it was fabulous!)
- Cycling along the river
- Bermondsey Market
- Borough Market
- Oxford Street
- Spitalfields Market
- Lunch at my cousin Carol’s in Crouch End
We also discovered the BEST vegan snack EVER!! Quinoa Puffs, jalapeño cheddar flavour. Mind. Blown. I took a photo and showed it to our lovely local vegan grocer owners at Good Rebel in hopes they could get some in. Fingers crossed!
There was another neat little product I was examining and tempted to buy but didn’t. It was a Swedish face pod scrubby called LUNA by FOREO. Still curious about it. Anyway, here’s a visual summary of the first couple of days.
DAY 1: CAMDEN/CYCLING/UNI FRIENDS MEET UP
DAY 2: NOTTING HILL/OLD FLAT/PORTOBELLO MARKET/HYDE PARK/DRAG SHOW
